MAJ. JOHN PELHAM was born in ALEXANDRIA, ALABAMA and killed at the battle of KELLY’S FORD MARCH 17, 1863.
Coming from Anniston on Highway 21 you will see a highway marker in Jacksonville on the right that reads as follows

as called by Robert E. Lee
Commanded Artillery, Army of
Northern Virginia. Cited for
conspicuous valor many times.
Killed in action in Virginia. “
