Lake Gunterville

Enjoy exploring Lake Guntersville State Park with awesome views looking over the Tennessee River. Expect to see alot of deer and other wildlife in the area including all kinds of water fowl and birds. The marshy backwaters is a favorite for cranes and the canyon clifts make great homes for Eagles. There are plenty of hiking trails in the area and plenty of different camping spots.
Mentone Alabama
Mentone is a small beautiful mountain resort town high on Lookout Mountain roughly 13 miles northeast of Fort Payne Alabama. The spring is a great time to enjoy a rental cabin in Mentone. The area host beautiful blooming flowers and awesome waterfalls! Enjoy some great food at the Wildflower Cafe , always someything interesting on the menu there. The Moonlight Bistro serves some tasty treats with a porch overlooking downtown Mentone. After a nice lunch I walk across the street to Crow’s Nest Antiques, they have a great selection southern art and home decor.

Right after a nice rain is the best time to visit if you wanna see rushing water. 104 foot Desoso Falls is largest in early spring and late fall and can get pretty small in summer time. While you are in the area Desoto State Park has great hiking, biking and camping. Little River Canyon National Preserve is just down the road and is one of Alabama’s most prized natural wonders!

If you are looking to escape back in time and enjoy a moment of solitude then Moundville Archaeological Park may be the perfect destination for you.
Moundville Archaeological Park is managed by the University of Alabama and offers a great adventure for anyone. If you ride mountain bike or love to jog you will enjoy the loop. There are also plenty of hiking trails to enjoy around the area also.
The Jones Museum is one of the coolest Archaeological Museums in Alabama! Enjoy artifacts from the Mississippian culture Indians that lived on the grounds from A.D. 1000 until A.D. 1450. While in the museum enjoy a great espresso or awesome coffee at the Black Warrior Coffee Company.You can purchase gifts at Notted Bird Gift.
There is an admission fee to the grounds and also a camping fee per night. For sure one of the best vacations you can take in Alabama.
